September 22 2022 – Calling all anime fans! You do not want to miss the exciting line up of events happening next month at Downtown East!

A signature event of Downtown East for the past 18 years, attracting both cosplayers and enthusiasts, Singapore’s mega cosplay convention, Cosfest 2022 is back! The two-day event (October 15 - 16), over the weekend, promises a spectacular array of programmes and performances featuring various international cosplay celebrities, activities and exhibition booths. Time to gear up for the show. To all otakus, be there or be square!

Also, have you heard? Downtown East is back with a slew of exciting events that will push your Halloween weekend to the next level. Get ready for – Halloween Town: Yokai Festival, October 29 - 30.

Come and discover all the fantastic supernatural creatures in Japanese folklore (or dress up and become one!) at this annual family-friendly spooktacular event.

Cosfest 2022: The Dreams of A Million Stars

D’Marquee | Open Plaza 1 | Begonia Terrace, October 15 – 16

Cosfest 2022 is returning to Downtown East on October 15 and 16 this year. Prep yourself for exhilarating stage performances including singing, anime and cosplay dance performances starring popular international cosplayers - kawaii Neneko, well-known Taiwanese celebrity cosplayer, and charismatic DJ cosplayer Joo A, from South Korea. There are also fringe activities throughout the weekend affair including trading card tournaments, graffiti wall and photo-ops.

But wait, there's more! Joo A will also be spinning her DJ set on day-one of the event - ready to set the stage on fire with her irresistible charm!

West Winds band will be making an appearance at Cosfest on day-two, bringing a list of megahit soundtracks from popular animation and movie titles.

Anime fans can expect more than 100 booths at this year’s Cosfest by international exhibitors and local creators, showcasing official merchandise as well as their anime art pieces and creations. Expect some big names such as CAESARS, Asia’s most exclusive retailer and distributor for premium swords and weaponry collectibles and Hakken!, a retail and online store featuring official anime products and merchandise.

Stand a chance to be the lucky winner and take home a metallic replica sword sponsored by CAESARS! Three ticketed winners will be picked daily.

Halloween Town: Yokai Festival 2022

Level 2, Event Square, October 29 – 30 (Open to Public for Free)

Get your spooky on this Halloween with engaging programmes curated during the Halloween weekend. Suitable for all ages, immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit and snap a photo with adorable Yokai (Japanese-themed) characters at various photo-op locations around Downtown East. Meet the Yokais and join in the fun Yokai Parade for an up-close encounter with well-loved characters from the anime series Inuyasha!

Yokai Parade

October 29, 7 pm, Event Square

As dusk approaches, behold the appearance of half-demon Inuyasha, high school girl Kagome Higurashi and many more characters from the Inuyasha anime series as they parade around Downtown East. Free Yokai masks will be given out to the public during the walkabout.

Hype up the Halloween spirit

October 29 - 30, 2pm – 4pm, Event Square

Drop by Event Square at Downtown East to check out stage performances by Melanie, Singapore’s first representative at the Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival (GICOF). She will be singing songs from popular titles such as Demon Slayer, Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel, Princess Mononoke and more. Also, appreciate the stunning showcase of the beautifully rhythmic Koto (a Japanese plucked half-tube zither instrument) and traditional Japanese Taiko (Japanese percussion instrument) performance.

Yokai Costume Makeover & Mask Painting Workshop

October 29 - 30, 1pm - 6pm, Event Square

Do not have costume for the Yokai Festival? Fret not! Head to the Yokai Costume Makeover booth (1pm – 6pm) for a wide selection costumes, accessories and props. Be ready for the festival in no time; satisfy the desire to play dress-up and channel that inner character!

Design a one-of-a-kind mask at the workshop to pair with your costume for that perfect Yokai Festival look! The 45-minute workshop has three sessions available on both dates (1pm, 2pm, 3pm), accommodating up to 15 pax per session.
