COSFEST XVII: Reunites At Downtown East For The 17th Year

Singapore’s beloved lifestyle destination unveils inaugural water-themed cosplay programme.

Singapore, June 2018 – From 7 to 8 July 2018, Downtown East and SCC SQUARE (Singapore Cosplay Club) present Cosfest XVII: Reunite, one of Singapore’s mega cosplay conventions for both casual and cosplay enthusiasts to unite and explore their creative boundaries with distinctive costume creations – with a special rendition this year.

For the very first time, Cosfest will introduce a water-themed cosplay programme – Cosfest WaterWorld, which will take place at Downtown East’s newly expanded waterpark, Wild Wild Wet, on 7 July from 2 – 5pm.

Bringing the marvelous world of fictional characters to life within Wild Wild Wet, Cosfest WaterWorld will feature a cosplay parade showcasing swimwear versions of their favourite fictional characters, as they indulge in fun-filled poolside reverie at Wild Wild Wet.

Cosfest XVII: Reunite will see a myriad of cosplay stars hailing from Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Indonesia and Philippines unveil their costume creations and participate in photo opportunities and autograph sessions. These special guest cosplayers include celebrity cosplayers Neneko from Taiwan; Kong, also known as the “Big Brother” of Korea cosplay; Bram, Asia’s famous costume-maker; as well as Rizky, Asia Cosplay Meet Champion 2017 from Indonesia.

In addition to joining in with their own cosplay outfits, guests can also get up close and personal with these celebrity cosplayers, presenting the opportunity to celebrate Japanese popular culture, their favourite fictional characters, and to bond over two days of festivities.

Other activity highlights open to public include:

  • Water Parade, a first in Singapore, as Taiwanese celebrity cosplayer Neneko and 20 other cosplayers drift along Shiok River as part of Cosfest WaterWorld. The Water Parade commences at 3pm from Saturday
  • Asian Cosplay Meet where teams from the region will put up a short performance in their fight for the top spot. The Asian Cosplay Meet takes place on Saturday 7 July from 1pm to 2pm and Sunday 8 July from 2pm to 3pm.

Cosfest XVII: Reunite will also feature crowd favorite activities including artist booths for merchandise purchase, anime song and cosplay talent performances, and special gigs from invited cosplayers.
