Launch Of All-New D’Resort Marks Phase One Completion Of Refreshing Downtown East Project

Nature-Inspired Getaway with Waterpark Fun Featuring Nine Room Types Promises Whole New Experience for All.

Singapore, 1 July 2015  The opening of the all-new D’Resort @ Downtown East today marks the completion of Phase One of the $200 million Refreshing Downtown East redevelopment project announced in 2012. The five-year plan aims to update NTUC Club’s offerings to meet the changing social and lifestyle needs of members and the public.

More than just a resort – D’Resort is Singapore’s first nature-inspired resort with an integrated waterpark experience

Nestled amongst the lush greenery of Pasir Ris Park, D’Resort is Singapore’s first nature-inspired resort with an integrated waterpark experience. The gem in the East welcomes guests to escape from the hectic city life to be at one with nature - and yet still enjoy modern and convenient facilities at their doorstep.

Upon arrival at D’Resort, guests will be greeted by a spacious resort lobby with rainforest-styled architecture featuring flourishes of dark woods and natural tones. Made up of 387 thoughtfully-designed rooms, which are now bigger and better, a unique resort experience awaits guests. Whether one is looking to have romantic escapades, family getaways or get-togethers with friends, there is something for everyone with the nine room types available. The rooms also come with different views of the surrounding park, mangrove and beach.

To provide a more holistic staycation experience, guests who are NTUC members will enjoy unlimited free access to the popular waterpark Wild Wild Wet. Guests can also enjoy a wholesome leisure experience at Downtown East which is home to a wide range of retail, F&B and entertainment options.

More than just a resort – D’Resort provides value beyond just a room

D’Resort has something for every budget and occasion including the themed Rainforest Family rooms. Families can opt from different themes inspired by the jungle or the underwater, or indulge in a sweet escape in an M&M’s themed room. Kids will have a fun time in these rooms with engaging activities just for them.

As BBQ pits at the previous resort have always been a hot favourite, D’Resort continues its BBQ tradition with more spacious BBQ pit areas to cater to bigger gatherings. For the more private vacationers, Rainforest rooms which are located away from the key activity areas have also been created for solace.

D’Resort also keeps its offerings affordable with early bird rates available six months in advance. As a perk for NTUC members, Park View chalets will be made exclusively available for them, together with discounted BBQ pits and parking.

More than just a resort – The involvement of Labour Movement communities further strengthens member engagement at D’Resort

The Labour Movement communities have played a key role in the development of D’Resort. The stunning nature visuals in each room at D’Resort are captured by U Live and nEbO - the community of active agers and the junior membership arm of the NTUC respectively – around Pasir Ris Park for a more immersive experience with nature. A showcase of the Labour Movement’s various communities, D’Resort also features efforts by members who have contributed to this project, through its community gardens, programmes, activities and more.

During their stay, guests will be able to sign up for a plethora of activities offered by the NTUC community. Nature buffs can join nature trails and mangrove tours conducted by U Live Park ambassadors. Sporty guests can also choose to join the short runs organised by the U Sports community at Pasir Ris Park.

Mr Yeo Khee Leng, NTUC Club Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are excited to announce the opening of D’Resort as a one-stop sanctuary with an integrated waterpark experience for union members and their loved ones – both young and old – to unwind and bond together. But more importantly, this is a resort that our members have a stake in. Our photographers from nEbO and U Live have shot some beautiful images of the natural landscape which you will see in all our rooms. Our U Live community gardeners will also transform a dedicated piece of land into a tropical floral paradise that will welcome our resort guests. There is truly something for everyone to enjoy, including couples, families, youths and travellers. We are confident that we will continue to connect and care for those who have been part of the Downtown East family, and attract new friends at D’Resort as we move forward.”

“Singapore’s workforce has evolved over the years and we have become a truly global city. I am heartened that NTUC Club strives to ensure that they continue to meet our workers’ expectations in their lifestyles facilities and offerings, and hence, NTUC Club undertook a $200 million project to upgrade Downtown East back in 2012. I am pleased to be launching D’Resort as the first part of the project, with a whole new range of rooms and experiences. The response has been positive and encouraging with many families who have already planned a staycation with D'Resort and others have expressed interest to do so,” said Mr Zainal Sapari, Assistant Secretary-General at NTUC, who was the Special Guest today as D’Resort welcomed its first guests.

Phase Two of Refreshing Downtown East project will complete the transformation of the Downtown East landscape with a new F&B and retail experience, and the expansion of Wild Wild Wet to double its size. It is targeted for completion in the second half of 2017. The announcement of the five-year master plan was made when NTUC Club celebrated its silver jubilee in 2012. Staying true to its commitment to provide affordable recreational choices for union members and the public, the rejuvenated Downtown East will allow NTUC Club to better serve the social needs of the workers of Singapore and take care of their well-being through fun offerings. For more information on D’Resort and bookings, please visit http://www.dresort.com.sg
