NTUC and NTUC Club sign MOU with MM2 Asia to bring greater value to over one million NTUC members
The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), NTUC Club and mm2 Asia (mm2) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the intent to collaborate and explore opportunities to better serve more than one million NTUC members, particularly the youth and young workers.
The collaboration will leverage the strengths of the parties’ networks and capabilities to deepen its engagement with NTUC members, specifically the youth and young workers, in three broad areas:
- Enhance NTUC membership benefits and co-create programmes by leveraging mm2’s media and entertainment businesses including its cinemas;
- Offer opportunities to youth and young workers with initiatives such as early exposure through programmes and internships in the media and creative industry; and
- Provide platforms for mm2 and NTUC Club (the leisure arm of NTUC) to collaborate on several fronts, as well as pool resources for the creation of new engagement and leisure concepts.
Strategic collaboration seeks to bring a whole host of exciting activities and privileges to NTUC members
As part of the collaboration, NTUC members can look forward to discounted movie tickets with their NTUC card at any Cathay Cineplex outlets. Young NTUC and nEbO members will enjoy added perks. Refer to Annex 1 for more details. NTUC members can also look forward to seasonal privileges such as discounted concert tickets as well as exclusive invitations to shows and events.
To commemorate the signing of the MOU, NTUC Club and mm2 will also be unlocking limited sets of the (U)ltimate PLAY Bundle, a special voucher bundle for nEbO and Young NTUC members. The Bundle, comprising Cathay movie tickets, Wild Wild Wet day passes, plus concert passes to JJ Lin “JJ20” World Tour Singapore, will be available for sale on the Ready for Experience website (www.readyforexperience.sg) from 17 October, 8am, to 24 October 2022, 1159pm, at $198 per set (while stocks last). Refer to Annex 2 for more details.
Steve Tan, Membership Services Division Director, NTUC, shares, “This strategic tie-up between NTUC and mm2 will allow us to present strong leisure and entertainment benefits to all NTUC members. We are confident that members will see this as a strong value proposition that they can now welcome their family and friends into.”
Engaging the workforce of our future – our youth and younger workers
Beyond representing workers at the workplace, NTUC wants to better understand the needs of the workforce of our future – our youth and younger workers. One recent initiative is the NTUC Youth Taskforce to refresh and strengthen its link with this group of workers, and ultimately, to help prepare them for fulfilling and purposeful lives.
One key component of this MOU would be to develop programmes and platforms to engage our youth and younger workers. This includes helping them to upskill and gain early exposure in the creative industry; access internships and learning journeys; and co-develop media-related courses.
“Young NTUC and nEbO have always been on the lookout for new and exciting ways to engage our youth and young workers. The strategic partnership will help us bring greater value to our members in their pursuit of leisure and other aspects of their lives. We are especially excited to work with mm2 to explore innovative ways to engage the young and identify learning and job opportunities in the creative industry,” says Wendy Tan, Executive Secretary, Young NTUC.
Co-creating new and interesting experiences and engagement concepts
NTUC, NTUC Club and mm2 will also be exploring new social and leisure experiences and concepts. One specific project is the co-development of Integrated Entertainment Centres (IEC) for youth and young adults. The idea is to leverage mm2’s network of cinemas as well as NTUC Club’s facilities (eg Downtown East) to repurpose and transform them into one-stop hubs that meet the social and lifestyle needs of youth. Concepts could include e-sports facilities, network lofts, multi-purpose live houses, and food and beverage outlets – all under one roof.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with NTUC and be able to contribute to Labour Movement communities in Singapore. We look forward to working together to bring a whole host of exciting activities and fun experiences for NTUC members. This strategic partnership will deliver many opportunities for us to create meaningful value, as well as many fun moments and fond memories for all,” says Chang Long Jong, Group CEO, mm2 Asia.
