The ones who made it all possible - our 420 staff of NTUC Club embody our core values and consistently do their best to ensure that the quality of work and service standards are met.
Every year, over 200 of our staff are recognised at the national Excellent Service Award (EXSA) for delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for guests.
In 2019, Mohammad Khairi from Wild Wild Wet's medic team was nominated for the Association of Singapore Attractions (ASA) Superstar Award. He displayed professionalism and upheld service standards when responding to a traffic accident that took place outside Downtown East.
We introduced our very own internal recognition and appreciation initiative, STARS. With a new theme every year, this annual awards presentation for The Club STAR, Unsung Hero and EXSA winners promises an evening of fun with its creative concepts, programmes, and prizes.
Congratulations to our Club Star and Unsung Hero Award Winners!

Together with U Care Centre, we have been actively raising awareness about the important roles our heroes play behind-the-scenes in keeping Downtown East clean and hospitable for members and guests alike. "Appreciating U: our Unsung Heroes" is one such event that we organise on a yearly basis to appreciate our workers for their hard work and contributions.
In 2019, the seventh year we held this event, more than 50 cleaners, gardeners, security guards and technicians were given free health checks. As a small token of thanks, our workers were also given Downtown East vouchers and treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch at Sakura restaurant.
NTUC Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Attractions, Resorts & Entertainment Union (AREU) and the Employment & Employability Institute (e2i) to support the NTUC-initiated Company Training Committee (CTC) in 2019. Working alongside the unions, our staff will be equipped with the necessary technical and adaptive technology-related skillsets to keep up with organisational transformations.
Training and upskilling our staff are a priority of NTUC Club. A series of programmes have been carefully curated and selected to support our capability growth programmes. These range from courses aimed at developing traits such as leadership and teamwork, to skill-based workshops such as Performance Management, Design Thinking, SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics and more.
To encourage openness in sharing, new staff are also invited to an informal coffee and tea session with our CEO for a mutual sharing session to get to know one another.
Our staff attending the Harnessing Design Thinking for Innovation Workshop held at Nanyang Polytechnic. The past four years saw NTUC Club embarking on various Do Good projects with our unions to give back to the community. In 2017 and 2018, NTUC Club staff visited beneficiaries such as Willing Hearts and Singapore Food Bank, to help prepare meals. In 2019, together with the Attractions, Resorts & Entertainment Union (AREU), Club staff sewed stuffed toys made from socks. Proceeds from the sale of the toys were made to Dignity Mama, to enable young adults with disabilities to gain basic entrepreneurial skills and lead independent lives.
Staff also came together to conceptualise and construct special Chillax corners within D'Resort for our resort guests. Every corner is specially themed to the liking of our guests.
To encourage inter-departmental bonding, NTUC Club frequently engages staff through fun and healthy events such as weekly Pilates, Yoga and Zumba sessions. A commemorative DE Amazing Race was also organised as part of the Downtown East 30 celebrations in 2018.
