Since the onset of the pandemic, we worked closely with our unions and tripartite partners to help affected workers soften the socio-economic impact brought on by the virus. Guided by our core values, we provided support to our staff and the various communities.
Joining the Fight Against COVID-19
NTUC Club stood at the forefront to answer the nation's call in the battle against COVID-19. We mobilised our resources to support our community and people.

Ensuring Business Continuity
As the first wave of the pandemic struck, we prioritised saving jobs and protecting workers' livelihoods while ensuring business sustainability.
More than $5 million worth of “Together, We Can!” relief packages were handed out to alleviate the financial constraints faced by our tenants as they had to cease operations during the circuit breaker. On top of rental and property tax rebates, additional marketing and operational support were extended to help them tide over the crisis.
Sustaining Engagement with our Members
Engagement took on a different approach during COVID-19 and was sustained through a slew of physical and online activities. Over 250 programmes which catered to various demographics were organised, and more than 100,000 members and guests were engaged during that period.
Key digital events included regular Esports gaming sessions, sports challenges, Facebook Live music entertainment and webinars. Regular physical workouts were particularly popular, engaging more than 12,000 members. A 5.6km virtual run, in celebration of Singapore’s 56th Birthday, was a key event highlight that garnered good participation. Collaborations with other health partners for virtual workshops on stress management, maintaining good posture while home-bound, and ways to stay productive indoors proved effective through positive feedback.
To align with members’ rising interest in online shopping, we embarked on a six-month live streaming endeavour. The weekly sessions featured an array of fashion, convenient foods, household, and popular lifestyle products. A social media reach of about 80,000 was achieved. Interest groups such as baking and gardening helped to further deepen virtual connections amongst members as they shared online tips to flourish their hobbies.
Engaging our Youths
For our youths, a key concern was the impact of the pandemic on their career plans and aspirations. We held various networking and dialogue sessions with industry partners and union leaders. This included interactions with Labour MP Patrick Tay and NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Desmond Choo, which gave our youths deeper insights into the local job market, tips to tackle possible challenges and enhance their employability.

Volunteerism also took the forefront during the challenging times as our youths initiated several care initiatives in support of various communities. A key highlight was social media videos posted by our youth leaders, sharing their experiences and coping mechanisms during COVID-19. This garnered more than 7,000 views. In other areas of engagement, weekly Friday night E-gaming sessions were organised to cater to youth interests which garnered an active participation of more than 2,500 participants.
Staying Connected with our Seniors
Caring for our seniors remained important as focus group sessions were conducted to better understand their challenges and needs during the pandemic. These sessions provided helpful data points to organise relevant programmes of interests such as workout videos, health articles and webinars as well as online tech-workshops that were jointly held with Smart Nation Singapore. In partnership with Infocomm Media Development Authority and VMware, the “My Smart Ahma Top Picks” series which enabled seniors to better adapt to the new normal, was highly popular. Lifelong learning was also reinforced as our seniors were enlightened on the use of their SkillsFuture credits.
Strengthening Family Bonds with the Little Ones
During the extended stay-at-home periods, we catered to the needs of our under-12s to keep them active and occupied. Programmes ranged from home-based activities to workouts and creative videos that encouraged parent-child bonding. A series of useful articles on stress management was also published.
Sustaining Union Engagement
Connections with our unionists were emphasised. Through regular online communications, we actively sought their feedback and guidance to ensure the relevancy of our programmes and activities for members. Fun-filled Zoom sessions were also held to engage our leaders, in celebration of key events such as May Day, National Day and Chinese New Year.

Prioritising the Wellbeing of our Staff
The holistic wellbeing of our staff was of utmost importance as Club was determined to emerge stronger from the pandemic.
Care packs comprising health essentials were distributed to boost staff morale. The management team also spearheaded appreciation events to acknowledge our staff for their resilience and dedication to provide front-line operational support.

Regular wellness initiatives, including peer support and professional counselling, ensured that staff received adequate care in their psychological and physical needs. For lower-wage workers, a $50 increment was given to help them better cope with the difficult times.
A Testament to our Unity
COVID-19 was a difficult period for all, but we stood in arms with our brothers and sisters for support. We ensured our Do Good initiatives alleviated challenges faced by our workers. We reminded one another to stay resilient and hopeful. We served the nation as One Club.
This experience helped us to grow and strengthen our resolve, knowing that together as one united community, we have what it takes to overcome any challenge that comes our way.
